bird dog

  i want to touch love. 
  to retrieve and
  hold it in my mouth like a bird dog.
  still warm, still dead;
  caressed by teeth.
  i want to cradle something soft despite
  my sharp edges.
  no snap of jaws--
  keep it safe. bring it home.
